Joan Polishook
Award winning artist Joan Polishook expresses her love of country on paper and canvas using a variety of mediums which includes pen and ink, watercolor, oil and acrylic.
Her art is an expression of what she sees and feels…many of her paintings are done en plein air. Joan enjoys the challenge of “chasing the light” in natural settings and creating interpretive compositions. She has been influenced by The Impressionist school of painting, both French and American.
Joan’s romance with art began as a child, when with no instruction, she painted watercolor landscapes from pictures she saw in a book. Art has played a major role throughout her entire formal education leading to a BA in Art from the City University of New York, and onward to her career as an elementary school teacher.
Today, Joan Polishook is known for the encouragement that she gives to other artists, for her involvement in her local arts community, and the direction that she offers in a free program for plein air painters called COME PAINT WITH ME which she began thirteen years ago.
Many awards have been presented to Joan for her fine art work, the most recent being 3rd place oil 2009, from Pocono Arts Council. Joan participates in numerous group and solo shows in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. Her work has appeared in magazines and newspapers, and is in both private, corporate and museum collections in the US and abroad.
